Second, they save 175 wood for eco upgrades in feudal, more in castle. You might not always know what you're seeing, but it's a big deal. That saves your scout ( which frequently dies at that Elo), and allows you to scout and play reactive. The best bonus is one that lets you know where your opponent is. I personally think Vietnamese are by far the best civ.
